Asus TUF Gaming 2020 Repair and Data Recovery
Asus released four TUF Gaming models in 2020: FA506, FA706, FX506 and FX706. We repair them at component level and recover data from them, in London or by insured courier from anywhere in the UK.
TUF Gaming models released in 2020
The model number is on the label underneath the laptop, after the word MODEL. The letters that follow it, such as FA507NV, identify the exact version.

What is inside a 2020 TUF Gaming
- New chassis generation announced at CES 2020: A15 FA506 and A17 FA706 on Ryzen 4000H (up to Ryzen 7 4800H) with GTX 1650 Ti, GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060; F15 FX506 and F17 FX706 on 10th Gen Intel. Asus certifies the chassis to MIL-STD-810H.
- Storage: two M.2 NVMe slots, plus a 2.5-inch SATA bay only on configurations with the smaller 48Wh battery; the 90Wh battery occupies the bay space.
- Two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots (nothing soldered). The bottom panel is held by 11 Phillips screws, one of which stays captive and lifts the panel edge.
- 15.6-inch FHD IPS panels up to 144Hz (60Hz on base models); the A17 launched with a 17.3-inch 120Hz FHD IPS panel. Charging is by barrel-plug adapter (180W to 230W).

Data recovery from a 2020 TUF Gaming
When one of these laptops will not start, the files are usually still there. TUF Gaming laptops have two M.2 NVMe slots, so there may be a second SSD fitted. Tell us if there is, so that we recover the right one. Models from 2020 and 2021 with the smaller battery also have a 2.5-inch SATA bay, which may hold a hard drive.
These laptops were sold with Windows 10, and many have since been upgraded to Windows 11, which can switch on device encryption by itself. If the drive is encrypted we need the BitLocker recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.
